As mentioned in our previous ‘Pool Reopening Status’ posting, the Board had been waiting for an announcement by the state (which oversees our pool license) as to when we could reopen the pool to community members. While many contacted parties were hinting that the COVID-19 emergency status might be lifted in early July, the prognosis has now changed and the lifting of the state’s emergency status has been postponed indefinitely.
At our most recent meeting the Board was prepared to discuss various options for reopening, especially given the record-breaking heat, however it was presented with a report from the company contracted to address the leaks at the pool and it turns out the situation was much more serious than anticipated. The pool is losing water at a significant rate and if not addressed properly the chemical balance could easily fall out of required ranges. The underwater surfaces have also reached beyond their end-of-life and now require excessive service to remain free of algae. As such, the Board has decided to once again make the most of the forced closure time and has voted to proceed with a complete repair, revamping and resurfacing of the pool, as well as cleaning, fault-correction and sealing of the pool deck pavers. This will begin promptly and we hope will be completed within 6-8 weeks.
