Since Hillsborough County is directing community associations to follow the CDC guidelines for community/public pools, the management company suggests we wait for loosening/removal of these restrictions. The prevailing opinion is that the emergency declaration will be lifted in early July which we hope will remove all of these requirements, but of course, this has not been given in an official notice.
The main sticking point is that the CDC is suggesting reduced total capacity as well as active sanitizing of seating/tables and restrooms. The Board was hoping we could just post these requirements for residents to proceed on their own (since it already is an un-staffed swim-at-your-own-risk facility), but the authorities require that these sanitizing and crowd control measures be enforced actively by the pool license holder. We are aware of local communities that have opened their pools, but upon investigating it turns out these are much larger associations which have committees and/or paid staff they can assign these tasks to.
In the meantime, we are taking advantage of the closure to perform needed maintenance to the pool area. Repair of leaks, replacement of metal ladder rungs, painting of the cabana and bathrooms, pressure washing of the seating area canopy and installation of the RFID key fob access.
