Pool Reopening Status

Our community pool continues closed due to the emergency status still in place according to the State of Florida (which handles our public pool license).

On a personal level, the members of the Board have been more than willing to reopen, ideally with outside-the-box ideas such as forming a volunteer committee to provide the mandatory State and CDC-required sanitizing and enforcement of capacity limits. We even discussed the possibility of hiring personnel to perform these required duties during certain hours/days of the week. Unfortunately, we reached a significant roadblock when we discussed our plans with our association’s attorneys and insurance company. Our legal counsel is concerned with the liability that attempting to carry out these safety procedures on our own could expose us to, and even more troubling, is that our insurance policy does not provide coverage for claims related to pandemics. And so, despite our honest desire to reopen the pool, we simply cannot go against the advice of counsel nor our insurance provider, and must wait for the emergency status to be lifted. These matters have also held us back from distributing the key fobs, since we need to be able to do so safely.

On a positive note, the major water leak that we reported previously has been repaired, and the resurfacing is scheduled to take place during winter of early 2021.
